The Feelings Inventory
Caregiving brings up feelings nobody warns you about. Guilt for wanting a break. Grief for the life you had before. Anger that this is happening at all. Even relief, and then guilt about the relief. There are no wrong feelings here. This reset gives you a simple way to name what you’re carrying, sort it, and set down what you don’t need to carry.
Name It, Sort It, Release It
Set a timer for 10 minutes. Spend the first 2 minutes writing down every feeling you’ve had this week, the big ones, the small ones and the ones you don’t want to admit. Use the next 3 minutes to sort them into two lists: feelings you need to feel and release, and feelings asking you to take action. Then use your last 5 minutes to let go of what you can and choose one small step for the feeling that needs your attention.
Some feelings just need to be felt. Others are messengers. Exhaustion may be asking for rest. Resentment may be asking for help or a boundary. Loneliness may be asking for connection. A feeling that’s acted on loses some of its weight.
You can print as many copies as you need and come back to this reset any time the weight starts to build.
You can get started right away, simply download the 10-minute reset now.
